A Midsummer Night’s Dream – April/May 2021

Shakespeare at the Mine

What is absolutely wonderful about Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is that it’s a timeless story that can be set practically anywhere. We decided that our production will be set in c.1930s Bendigo, and what better place to stage it than at the Central Deborah Gold Mine!

The performances will take place on the mine’s surface, utilising the rustic architecture of the gold extracting shed along with a magnificent view of the Poppet Head in the background. It will be a “roaming production” where the audience will follow the action to create an immersive experience!
